Job Summary:

The Research Outcomes in Children's Surgery (ROCS) Team in the Center for Children's Surgery has an opening for a full-time Clinical Research Coordinator. ROCS provides a central infrastructure to support outcomes research across the Center for Children's Surgery in the following domains; research development, study coordination, data collection and analysis, and research education. The Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) will work closely with the other members of the ROCS team, including two coordinators, our Outcomes Research Director, and a group of Biostatisticians to ensure the smooth functioning and timely response to research requests within the Center for Children's Surgery. The CRC will also help plan, coordinate and support various ROCS events, meetings, presentations and reports throughout the year.


The Center for Children's Surgery consists of 11 different Departments and Divisions, representing and supporting over 120 faculty that care for Pediatric patients. Our Center serves as a critical link between our faculty's home departments/divisions and CHCO leadership and staff. The CCS prides itself on maintaining the highest level of transparency, customer service, and service to our missions and our fellow team members. Key Responsibilities:

General Research Coordination (60%)
  • Assist with and perform the day-to-day operations needed for assigned research studies
  • Establish and maintain regular communication with PI's and study teams for assigned research studies
  • Schedule, coordinate, and conduct research subject visits, including verifying availability of necessary space and clinical research support (e.g., physician, nurse practitioner, nurse, phlebotomist, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, etc.)
  • Assist with research start up, study close-out processes, and other regulatory requirements throughout the life of a project
  • Utilize the Research Electronic Data Capture (REDCap) system to create and manage research databases
  • Collect, code, and assist with the analysis of data obtained from research in an accurate and timely manner
  • Maintain detailed records of studies to ensure compliance with requirements of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), study protocols, department, hospital/clinical standard operating procedures and other regulatory guidelines
  • Adhere to research regulatory standards and Good Clinical Practice

Subject Screening, Recruitment, Consenting (15%)
  • Assess prospective subjects for their interest in participation in a variety of research studies. Educate potential subjects on the details of the studies during in-person encounters or through phone contacts
  • Obtain study subject's medical history and current medication information, reviews research protocol inclusion/exclusion criteria, and confirms eligibility of subject to participate in research study
  • Perform informed consent process or ensures that the informed consent process has occurred, is properly documented, and that informed consent form documents are filed as required

Program Support, General Admin (25%)
  • Assist with the planning, coordination, and implementation of various ROCS events, presentations and projects throughout the year
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of resources for CCS research teams, including educational materials, guides, and templates
  • Regularly attend meetings about research updates, education, and training and assist in dissemination of new information to research teams within the CCS
  • Ensure that the necessary supplies and equipment for studies are in stock and in working order
  • Other duties, as assigned

Work Location:

This role is eligible for a hybrid work schedule. Employees are expected to work on campus 1-3 days a week or more as needed due to job responsibilities.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
  • A bachelor's degree in public health, public administration, social/behavioral sciences, physical sciences, nursing, healthcare, finance, accounting, business administration, business, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.
  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado.
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in a science or health related field
  • 1-2 years of clinical research or related experience
  • Experience with electronic data capture systems, such as Redcap, and/or EPIC
  • Bilingual (Spanish & English)

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as:

$47,743-$60,729

The above salary range (or hiring range) represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
